Decorative painting is seen as time-consuming, complicated, and unorganized by consumers.

The consumer is the main decision-maker and navigates through many questions during the decision journey.

Opportunities

We see opportunities in several areas, but don’t let the following list limit you:

  • Digital experience of our products through visualization technologies like Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Gamification software etc
  • Data driven customer experiences through Artificial Intelligence led chat bots, voice enabled engagement tools, curated training content to support Do-It-Yourself projects etc.
  • Cloud based solutions to improve customer support and services
  • Solutions within the social media ecosystem to generate credible customer information / insights and further fuel our business strategy

 

Thinking about the consumers’ needs, we already have initiatives such as:

  • Digital tools, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) previews, Visualizer, digital shade cards and colour sensors to inspire consumers paint journey and helps them curate it in their style. 
  • Dulux Painter Market Place, a portal that connects painters with consumers looking for painting assistance.

What we’re looking for in your solution

Your solution should be more than idea. It should have proven technical feasibility and be ready to be further developed for this purpose.

We’re looking for a solution that digitally transforms the painting journey (Planning, Painting and Post-painting) for consumers resulting in a delightful consumer experience. 

  1. Planning – Inspiration, visualization, painter outreach, Buy-it-yourself (BIY), Buying, Budget
  2. Painting – Empower choices (DIY or professional service)
  3. Post-painting – Feedback, product & service reassurance, consumer lifecycle management

Share your solution

IP: We respect ownership of Intellectual Property (IP)

We respect ownership of Intellectual Property (IP). IP that you already own prior to the Paint the Future Challenge remains yours; and similarly, our existing IP remains ours. In addition, our starting point is that both parties should have appropriate rights in what we create together during the Paint the Future Challenge. If you get invited to the final of the Challenge, we will communicate clearly what specific IP terms will apply.

NON-CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION

Whilst we respect IP rights, we also value the open sharing of non-confidential information, and building on contributors’ ideas. This is what makes the Challenge useful for all participants, and contributes to identifying successful innovations. This means that during the submission phase, your submission, and the information you share with us, will be received by us only on a non-confidential basis.
